Massey House
This impressive residence is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act for both architectural and historical reasons. It was designed for Charles Massey in 1883 by architect E. J. Lennox. Lennox's design was executed in a Queen Anne style. Sproatt and Rolph Architects added classical additions including the picture gallery extension and the sandstone porte-cochere with sunroom above. Wonderfully detailed interior features remain. It is also historically important through its association with three generations of the Massey family and their contributions to the industrial development of Toronto and to Canadian government and culture.
